Our offshore client thought that his investment property in London
was a sure thing; but then he had assumed that his managing agents
would forward the rent to him. Imagine his surprise at the number of
cheques that were mysteriously lost in the post and the anxious
phone calls that went unanswered. We were instructed to bring
proceedings against the agents. A judgement was soon obtained,
requiring the agents to provide an account of the rent receipts from
the property and pay our client the amount to which he was entitled.
Our professional clients in Australia need
assistance with obtaining evidence for use in a personal injury
case. They are acting for the defendant's insurer. The claimant is
based in the UK, having been involved in a traffic accident in
Sydney. The New South Wales court intends to take evidence in the
UK. We arrange for the claimant to be examined by local medical
experts. Our clients are also prepared to invest in a surveillance
report which we set up. We liase with the Court Service to provide a
courtroom and conference facilities at the Royal Courts of Justice
where the case finally settles on the first day of the trial.
Following an unfortunate family falling-out, our Irish client
becomes involved in proceedings brought by his sister aimed at
forcing sale of the family's London flat. As is so often the case
there is no paperwork, because when the property was purchased there
was trust on all sides. Once that trust had disappeared the parties
are left arguing about the legal effect of casual arrangements made
20 years earlier. It is a case that could lead to financial disaster
for one side or the other, but fortunately we are able to negotiate
a compromise that enables our client to keep the flat.
